Remember the 80's Part 2, Music

Updated on May 28, 2022

You Don't Know What You Were Missing... or Do You?

The 80’s; if you weren’t there you won’t understand. I say all the time that the world is a different place now than when I grew up and that wasn't all that long ago. There has been such drastic changes; changes in leisure activities, movies, toys, TV, technology, media, celebrities, fashion… There is almost nothing left here from the 80’s. Even the things that have carried themselves to current times have adapted to fit into this new environment. Though I grew up in the 80's, many of the things from era's before were still around. Remember 8-track players? I actually knew how to use when and listened to a lot of our music up to camp on one. Record players? Yup, listened to Christmas Albums, Beatles and Michael Jackson on record player in my living room growing up. Remember the councel TVs? We owned about 3 of those in my lifetime. Those were upgrades after starting with TVs that had knobs and there was no such thing as a remote. Remember having to deal with the volume at whatever level it was at rather than getting up to adjust the volume? Remember the 13 choices we had for channels? Remember Boomboxes and Walkmans? Those were some seriously advanced technology back then. There are so many characteristics of the 80’s that are worthy of conversation, but now, I want to direct my attention to the music.

This is the Hub That Never Ends...

I knew that I missed songs from when I was growing up. In fact, the only real music I even listen to anymore is this kind on soft/oldie type stations. What happened to music? Where did it go? I have pages and pages of songs and videos that I haven't mentioned yet. I want to hear the songs that someone couldn't have lived without.
